How do I submit news, an event or a photo? Follow the instructions below, under NEWS.
How do I offer my opinions? Contribute to YourArlington.com's community blog (called Your View).
First, sign up. Click the Registration link.
A screen will appear that says: "Your account has been created and activation link has been sent to the email address you entered. Note that you must activate the account by clicking on the activation link when you get the e-mail before you can log in."
Clicking on the link provided in that e-mail will begin to activate your account, but you can't post yet.
At this point, it is best to shoot Bob Sprague an email at sprague.bob[@]gmail.com, and he will activate access that allows you to post to the site.
At this point, you may then enter your username and password in the login screen.
If you have not provided your first and last names, you will be asked to supply them, as well as a street address and phone number. This information will remain private -- and is for the purposes of verification only.
Once logged in, you will see Send News on the navigation bar at top right. Clicking it opens a window that allows you send news to YourArlington.
(If this function is not working, please e-mail Bob Sprague, and he will provide an alternative.)
Choose a category for your story. Enter a headline and your story. Save your information by clicking on the check icon at top, and the page remains for more writing or editing. To save and close out of the page, click the disk icon.
You should get an email saying your item has been submitted. If you don't, let the publisher know you have submitted an item.
Numerous other editing options include the ability to add images and submitting Web links.
Important: An editor will review your submission before posting it, unless you have been granted rights to do so yourself. The publisher of YourArlington.com decides who may do what with regard to the site.
