Richard Belofsky of Arlington, who works for the Bulfinch Group, has passed the American College certification for chartered special-needs consultant.
The demand for financial advisers who understand the complexities of planning for the disabled has grown as more families include individuals with special needs and as laws that govern this field have become more complex.
This new designation from the American College creates strategies for advisers who are focused on helping special-needs individuals and their families preserve financial assets and maximize access to essential government support services. Such consultants are equipped with the specialized skills needed to help parents and caregivers plan for the future with honesty, ethics and compassion.
“This new designation will further enhance our ability to serve our clients in a uniquely comprehensive and highly specialized manner,” Belofsky said in a news release.
The American College of Financial Services provides financial services professionals with the technical, collaborative and quantitative skills necessary to help clients with special needs through the consultant.
